From our Director, Mr. Fred Runkel:

The third quarter Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Tuesday, April 15 for the Middle and High School, and Wednesday, April 16 for the Kindergarten and Elementary School.

As in the fall semester, the Middle/High School conferences will take place between 8:30 – 17:00 on Tuesday, April 15 at the Vereinshaus in Herzogenaurach located at Hintere Gasse 22.  Where possible, families with a surname starting with the letters A-K are requested to conference with their child(ren)’s teachers between 8:45 and 12:45 and families whose surnames begin with the letters L-Z are requested to conference with their child(ren)’s teachers between 13:15 and 17:00.  The teachers will be available in centralized locations in the Vereinshaus and parents are free to conference with each teacher as they find them available. There will be no classes for the Middle & High School students on this day but it is mandatory that all students in Grades 5 through 11 attend the conferences with their parents.  Further Information regarding these conferences will be sent home with the students next week.

Please see the map below for directions to the Vereinshaus from the Convent Campus. Please note that parking at the Vereinshaus is limited and is pay parking.  If need be, please find alternate parking near by and walk to the Vereinshaus.  Note that on the map, the green flag denotes the FIS Convent Campus and the red flag shows the location of the Vereinshaus.

The Kindergarten and Elementary School conferences will take place between 8:30 – 17:00 on Wednesday, April 16.  These conferences will take place at the Dassler Villa.  Letters informing you of your scheduled appointment times for the Kindergarten / Elementary School conferences will be sent home with the students next week.  There will be no classes for the Kindergarten & Elementary School students on this day. It is strongly recommended that students in Grades Two through Four attend the conferences with their parents.

Due to the conferences, After School Activities will be cancelled at the Dassler Villa on Wednesday, April 16.

Welcome:  We were happy to welcome several new families to the FIS this week.  Anja Mengin joined Grade 10, Lilly and Sandy Ahn joined Grade 4kl and Grade 5a-t respectively, and Adam and Ashlyn Craig respectively joined Kiga Red and Grade 3t.  We warmly welcome these students and their families to the FIS!  Our school enrolment is now at its highest point in school history with 321 students in attendance.

Balloon Contest:  Due to the rainy weather many of the balloons for the Easter Balloon contest did not take off on the day they were released prior to the spring break.  As such the PTO will compensate the children by putting their names into a raffle.  The raffle will take place at the next Dassler Villa assembly on April 23.

Congratulations: To our Dassler Villa Office Administrator, Susanne John, on getting married over the spring break.  Please make note that her new email address is susanne.john@the-fis.de.

Drop off / Pick up Safety: To ensure the safety of the students, please remember when dropping off or picking up your children, please obey all the appropriate traffic and parking rules. This includes obeying the speed limits, stopping only in legal parking zones, and pulling into the drive ways or bus lanes only going in the correct flow of traffic. When using the bus lane at the Convent Campus, please only do so after the busses have departed and pull up as far as possible to allow other cars to pull in behind you and not block the flow of traffic on Zum Flughafen. Students who are dropped off or picked up at the Convent Campus should always enter or leave vehicles on the curb side.
